Pirates Cove
Well, bless my heart, here we go again! Citrus
County Commissioner Jeff Kinnard is back at it,
urging the county to buy Pirates Cove, that
infamous flooded property that’s caused more
heartburn forl ocal businesses than a plate of bad
barbecue.
Now, don’t get me wrong; I love a good picnic as
much as the next person, but turning a
waterlogged mess into a park with picnic tables
and grills? That takes some gall, even for good ol’
Kinnard.
Let’s be honest—Pirates Cove isn’t exactly a
hidden gem; it’s more like a treasure chest that
sank. After a hurricane season so active, it felt
like Mother Nature was auditioning for a reality
show, I can only imagine how many times that
Property has been underwater. Businesses that
took a chance on the place and paid the price.
They closed their doors and left behind dreams
and livelihoods. Now, Kinnard wants to
transform this soggy disaster into a picnic
paradise? Talk about misplaced priorities!
Instead of dreaming up plans for a park that
might end up being a water hazard, why not focus
On the real issues facing Citrus County? Our roads
are about as smooth as a gravel driveway after a
monsoon, and our homeless population is growing
faster than kudzu in summer. There are strategic
solutions waiting to be explored, from improving
infrastructure to finding ways to support those
without a roof over their heads.
I mean, come on, Kinnard! You’ve brought this
up before, and now, right after hurricane season?
It feels a bit tone-deaf don’t you think? We need
leaders who understand the pressing needs of
their constituents, not just those who have visions
of picnic tables dancing in their heads.
How about proposing a plan to fix our roads,
which are more perilous than a tightrope walk
over gator-infested waters? Or maybe a
community initiative to address homelessness,
where we can make a difference? Let’s channel
that energy into something that benefits the
community instead of a soggy dream that could
wash away with the next storm.
So, here’s hoping that Kinnard rethinks his
strategy and puts Citrus County’s real needs at the
forefront. After all, we’ve got a lot more to worry
about than where to put a grill!
