Two Weekends to Christmas: Surviving the Holiday Madness

Well, folks, here we are. Two weekends left before Christmas, and I can already hear the jingle bells ringing in the distance. It’s that magical time of year when we all become amateur decorators, hanging lights with the grace of a three-legged mule and wrapping presents like we’re trying to gift-wrap a live alligator.

Now, let’s talk about the Christmas tree. You ever notice how every year we pick out the biggest tree we can find, only to spend the next week apologizing to it for the number of ornaments we’ve crammed onto its branches? By the time we're done, it looks like a disco ball that just survived a tornado.

And then there’s the shopping. Oh, the shopping! It’s like a contact sport. You’ve got folks elbowing their way through aisles. And I swear, if you’re not careful, you’ll end up in the wrong line and be stuck behind someone trying to return a fruitcake from 2007.

But amidst the chaos, there’s something heartwarming about this season. It’s a time for family, for laughter, and yes, for those weird fruitcakes that nobody really wants but feel obligated to keep passing around.

So, as we gear up for the holidays, let’s not forget what really matters. The people we love, the memories we make, and the fact that there’s only so much eggnog one person can handle before it becomes a bad idea.

Now get out there and enjoy your weekend! Just remember, if you see me wrestling with a Christmas tree, don’t be surprised if it wins.

  1. The benefits of aging is you keep things simple and people become very important in your life. Too many friends and family are gone so you truly appreciate the ones you have left.
